Who are we?

The Delaware Technology Park (DTP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a stronger future for the state. We're a place that provides resources for economic growth, empowering science and technology startups to transform their ideas into thriving businesses.
Since our founding in 1992, we've cultivated a unique ecosystem where innovation flourishes. Through our strategic partnerships with the State, the University of Delaware, and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), we provide resources with national recognition. We offer more than just incubator space; we provide the resources, mentorship, and useful connections essential for success. We provide affordable access to necessary resources and connections to the region's industry, government, and academic leaders.

Our Journey: Key Milestones

1999 – 2001

The Genesis

The DTP story began in 1992 when the park officially welcomed its first company.Early visual records from 1993 to 1998 show the humble transition from a dirt lot into the park's initial foundational footprint. During this era, DTP operated out of a single primary building, laying the groundwork for the collaborative ecosystem that exists today.

1992 – 1998

Rapid Expansion

The major turning point occurred in 1999 when the State and the University of Delaware (UD) established the Delaware Biotechnology Institute (DBI). This decision unleashed substantial economic development. In just two years, DTP rapidly expanded from one building to five. Today, this main facility houses three multi-tenant buildings, the DBI, and the Fraunhofer USA Center for Molecular Biotechnology.

2016

DTP@STAR Incubator

DTP expanded beyond its original park to establish a laboratory extension on UD's Science, Technology, and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. On October 14, 2016, a ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the opening of the. DTP@STAR incubator, providing cutting-edge wet lab facilities to a new wave of researchers and entrepreneurs.

2020

Full Campus Realization

By 2020, the park had matured into a dense, high-functioning ecosystem, housing a diverse range of companies that set the stage for our FinTech future.

2021 – Present

A New Era of Innovation

The newest chapter is the FinTech Innovation Hub on the STAR Campus, which began construction in April 2021. Owned, developed, and operated by DTP, this massive six-story, 100,000-square-foot facility represents an evolution into an "East Coast Center of Excellence". It houses a unique partnership between DTP, Discover Bank and Capital One, and UD’s Colleges of Engineering and Lerner Business and Economics.
Today, the Hub is at full occupancy, serving as the premier home for high-growth startups, impactful nonprofits, CAFE, and the GrowthStage Incubator.
